| Ofsted says 'Outstanding'! |
|
A recent Ofsted report at St Benet Biscop Catholic High School gave us Excerpts from the Inspection report: St Benet Biscop The school is a teaching and learning academy and is involved in many initiatives such as creative partnerships. It is federated with a local middle school and is leading an extended partnership with 10 other schools. Other outstanding aspects of the school’s work include the strategies to promote community cohesion and the contribution made by students to the school and community. Students make an outstanding contribution to the school and the wider community through an extensive range of activities. Opportunities to take leadership roles in the school community are always taken and students support a wide range of local, national and global charities. Students have a highly developed sense of social and moral responsibility, and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding. The school’s promotion of community cohesion is outstanding because it very successfully promotes it locally, nationally and internationally in many ways. This is through its links with extended partnership schools and services in addition to the Catholic and other faith communities. It very successfully engages with a range of groups beyond the immediate community, for example through sponsorship activities with students in the African country of Lesotho. As St Benet Biscop is a Catholic School this inspection was closely followed by a Section 48 inspection which inspects the Catholic life of the school and the performance of the RE department. This graded us as an 'Outstanding Catholic School'. There is no doubt about it, there has been a lot of hard work from school staff, partnership schools, partners and of course our wonderful students, especially the Youth Ambassadors, who have played a vital role in the above. It has all been worthwhile and the icing on the cake is for Ofsted to acknowledge this as 'Outstanding!'. Well done everyone! |
